From the Caymen Net News -- As tourism and hospitality officials in the Cayman Islands map out a strategy to raise standards in line with their upscale product, one cruise line has suddenly dropped off the itinerary.
While the local tourism leaders have lost the Grand Princess on their radar for the past month, an official of Princess Cruises – the cruise line that operates the ship – disclosed that Playa del Carmen has replaced Grand Cayman as the port of choice.
One notification sent to a prospective passenger by one of Princess Cruises’ agents, Vacations To Go, stated:
“Due to increased passenger satisfaction scores based on our recent itinerary changes, the decision has been made to enhance the itinerary for the remainder of the season,” said the letter.
“Therefore, the half-day call to Grand Cayman has been cancelled and replaced with a full day call to Playa del Carmen."
