Hotel Profile: Dreams Cancun Resort & Spa

The Dreams Cancún Resort & Spa is one of Cancun's most popular all-inclusive hotels. Known for its great location, this large-scale resort is on the beach and is walking distance to the convention center and main tourism entertainment district. It was badly damaged during Hurricane Wilma in late 2005 but reopened again in early 2006. It’s one of the few resorts in Cancún where you could pass a week without getting in a car or bus and still get to see some of the town’s main attractions.

Of all the hotels within the convention center area, it has the best beach, which is hidden in a sheltered cove next to the Hyatt Regency. There is no easy public access to the beach, making it especially safe and relaxing. Though it’s all-inclusive, guests are not required to wear wristbands, and instead sign all meals/drinks to their room. There are several restaurants and bars, including a seaside sushi bar, an air-conditioned buffet, a seafood grill, and a beach bar.

There are nightly themed shows and meals, including a Mexican fiesta complete with mariachi bands and folkloric dancers. Accommodations include all food and drinks, nonmotorized water sports, gym, business center (including Internet access), stocked minibar, and even 24-hour room service. The staff goes out of their way to provide great service, even though tips are included in the room price. It is highly recommended by the editors of Mayan Holiday.
