Riviera Maya Creates Bilingual Tourist Police Force
Cancun, May 26, 2006 -- The Riviera Maya recently inaugurated a bilingual tourism police force under the direction of the local government. The governor of Quintana Roo, the state's secretary of tourism and other diplomats were in town to recognize the program. The purpose of the force is to improve communication with tourists and increase security in the region, particularly on the beach and popular tourist areas of Playa del Carmen. The officers will be based in the public ministry office on the corner of First Street and 20th Avenue.
