Playa del Carmen -- In a story that could only come from the Riviera Maya, it was announced today that the Playa del Carmen municipal dump will be turned into a golf course.
The dump, located near the Tres Rios ecology park, occupies nearly 15 hectares of land. The lot has been purchased by an un-named developer, who has declared intentions of building a golf course on the site.
The Playa del Carmen municipality currently produces more then 350 tons of refuse daily.
